Propaganda Coffee - Latte Review - Vancouver

Lattes are my go-to whenever I'm at any coffee shop. Luckily, I live and work in Vancouver where coffee shops are aplenty and so my latest coffee-venture took me to Propaganda Coffee in Chinatown.

Espresso:

Team GlueCrew came here for a mid-afternoon coffee and I had myself a Latte ($4.50) roasted with Elysian Coffee Roasters Tarqui (Columbia) beans. These were single origin beans so I was buying into the full Columbian experience, which was a pretty standard brew with notes of caramel. The other option today was pilot Coffee Roasters' Córrego Lavrinhas which by its label would feature a more raisin-y taste.

Latte

Latte art was done very well here with pretty accurate symmetry positioned perpendicular to the handle (this is important for mouth placement when holding the 12oz mug). The offshoot leaf petals added additional character to the design which held its shape over my 15-minute coffee session.

At $4.50, this is standard latte pricing which places it higher than a place like Republica Coffee Roasters, cheaper than Nemesis Coffee, and right in line with Prado Cafe. If there were a financial middle-ground in the coffee world, Propaganda Coffee would fit right there.

Features:

Propaganda Coffee takes residence in an oldish Chinatown building and the mostly-white interior appears pretty spacious with a variety of seating and the exposed piping along the ceiling. The space has a sort of industrial feel to it with the metal stools and what I call the "wagon booth".

Inside Propaganda Coffee

Among this variety of seating, there's space for about 30 guests and there's lot of opportunity to watch the staff work their magic on their pour-overs and lattes. There's also some shelving on the side where you can purchase some of your own coffee-brewing equipment.

Service:

Service was pretty good at Propaganda Coffee. Here you'll place and pay for your order prior to picking it up yourself. The staff were pretty polite and the space wasn't too busy at 2pm on a weekday afternoon. There didn't appear to be any dirty dish trays, so remember to tip if you intend on having the staff bus your table!

Final Thoughts:

One-liner: Tasty single origin coffee shop that supports local roasters and offers the classy pour-over method.
Highlight: Latte
Price per person: $5-15
Would I go back? Yes.
