Beauty and the Beast: Cocktail Experience in Vancouver [EVENT]

I don't know where the used props go but Viral Ventures [https://www.viralventuresglobal.com/] is doing a really cool thing by dressing up venues and dressing up people in themed immersive cocktail experiences and reinventing old fairytales anew every single season. The latest iteration is Beauty and »

Paragon Tea Room [REVIEW] – Elevated Tea in Vancouver

The price of specialty coffee and tea is no joke in Vancouver. On average you can expect to spend $6-10 for a drink so I'm on the hunt for the ones that are worth it. For today's research, I found myself drawn over to Paragon »

Myst [OVERVIEW] – Seasonal Taiwanese Fare in Burnaby

It's pretty standard for Asian restaurants to have special menus for cultural holidays but Myst [https://myst6400.com/] takes it up a notch by celebrating Halloween and Fall with a seasonal food and drink menu that matches with the staff decking themselves out in full costume. Last week »

Motonobu Udon [REVIEW] – An Underrated Ode to Udon in Burnaby

Ever since travelling to Hawaii, and experiencing handmade fresh udon, there's been a udon-sized hole in my heart that's been hard to fill in Vancouver. Sanpachi Ramen had a hot minute on Robson Street but the truth is now at Motonobu Udon [https://motonobuudon.ca/ »

Linh Cafe [REVIEW] – French-Vietnamese Cuisine with a Wide Menu Spectrum in Vancouver

In a city as Asian as Vancouver, it's surprising to me there aren't more French-Vietnamese restaurants – banh mi are often as French as it gets. Linh Cafe [https://linhcafe.com/] made waves in the news as a popular Kitsilano restaurant moving into the Vancouver House »

Moltan [REVIEW] – Vancouver's Secret Japanese Pasta in Kitsilano

People are talking about Moltan Roll Bar [https://moltanrollbar.com/] with the hype around their hand rolls and upper-but-not-quite-Miku priced sushi, but I'm telling you the real deal here is the pasta. Cooked with a Japanese flair, the noods here feature a deep umami »

Gram Cafe & Pancakes – The Japanese Import With Questionable Quirks in Vancouver [REVIEW]

I'm going to be biased in my review of Gram Cafe & Pancakes [https://www.gramcanada.com/] because I've been to Tokyo for soufflé pancakes and they were a far cry from what I had at Gram at The Amazing Brentwood. I'll do my »

Aiyaohno Cafe – Creative and Hidden in Plain Sight in Vancouver [OVERVIEW]

I ventured off the beaten path to discover Aiyaohno Cafe, a portmanteau of "aiya" and "oh no", inside the historic BC Electric Railway Building. Aiyaohno's name comes from what co-founder Beverly would often say after making a mistake in the kitchen. Fast forward »

Say Mercy! – A Marriage of Southern American and Italian Mash-Up in Vancouver [REVIEW]

The folks behind The Mackenzie Room are innovating again with their sister restaurant Say Mercy! [https://www.saymercy.ca/] and you can tell it's in the family because the same "I Want It All!" omakase-style menu option is available on the menu and some of »

Land & Sea – A Hidden Gem of Elevated Hybrid Cuisine in Vancouver [REVIEW]

I hate the phrase "hidden gem" because I think it's misused for restaurants in obviously urban addresses (please, you CANNOT tell me OEB, in Yaletown, is a hidden gem of Vancouver [https://www.discovercanadatours.com/hidden-restaurants-of-vancouver-spots-only-locals-know-about/] that only »

Mott 32 – The Classiest Chinese Food Money Can Buy in Vancouver [REVIEW]

I have no qualms in recommending Mott 32 for a high-end Chinese food experience. Some people gripe about how food shouldn't be this expensive, so here's a comparison. For every basic need, a market exists for people who want to spend more money to solve that need. »
